As a kid when I grew up I was always disappointed when my favorite T.V show got cancelled. With modern day technology and a modern day application, I wouldn't be disappointed if some threads got locked.

What is the purpose of life?
by slimboyfat inwhile reading the magazines the other day it occurred to me that jws never really had a very good answer to that question.
because it was aimed at young people and it said something along the lines, "if you believe in god you have a purpose, but if you don't believe in god your life has no purpose or meaning".
i think that is a faulty analysis of the situation.

Inappropriate Behavior
by rebelfighter innow i know i am getting older or of the older generation.
i have had a very strange day with a lot of strange dealings with people with strange behavior today but this one incident was just over the top.
so i came out of a store in a busy shopping center.

As a 16 year old art student I remember how a lady model took off her towel and then she was naked, it was the first time I had seen a naked woman. I was embarrassed and aroused, but as I started to draw I was able to look at her like a marble statue. It was only during the break when she moved and took a cigarette did I get pleasantly disturbed again. Oh how I remember those great days of being at art college and following a football club outside of watchtower control ....

Maybe what I have to say has no value, but in my opinion DJS is not a bully, and rebelfighter is a person who is very fragile, and has been hurt in life. Cancer took my father in law two years ago. I am glad you got over your battle with cancer rebelfighter. Anyway maybe the trick on an O.P is to bend, just let things go? I mean who really cares anyway about the O.P? It's simply not worth all the fighting.
Just my opinion.

Didn't superman change clothes in a phone box :-)
Anyway I am not judging but I have noticed a new trend for public breast feeding, and have seen it in the coffee shop and at the public library.

Wing commander, I agree you do what you have to do. When I first went to my football matches we had to stand and if you wanted to pee you rolled up a newspaper and peed in it. I accepted that and stood in many puddles of pee ( my mum was never overly impressed if I didn't take my shoes of when I came home :-)) but I do think in fairness to rebelfighter she was talking about a different half way house.

rebelfighter " we normally do not expect to find this behavior on our streets"
Well one day in 1979, Elton John the then chairman of Watford F.C arrived wearing some really laity gear, the glasses, the hat, the jacket, the platform boots, all completely over the top. Our manager Graham Taylor, took Elton John aside and said " We have standards and we have a dress code at Watford football club, and it's important we all maintain them"
Ok Elton was extremely flamboyant, but he was the chairman the man who was investing his wealth in to his boyhood club, yet he had the humility to accept the standards set by the manager he appointed, and then dress accordingly.
p.s I always admired Elton John for his humility, and for the fact he would after matches pop in the chippy and talk to the kids like a normal fan. I was one of those 8 year old kids in 1979 and Elton John you gave me many great moments in my life...thanks for for that and sharing my love of Watford F.C.

According to one JW there can only be 1 of 3 reasons why you left.
by Bonsai ini asked an old jw friend of mine why so many baptized individuals leave the jw religion.
"did it ever occur to you, old friend, that maybe they know something that you don't know and have valid reasons for leaving?
", i asked.. his response set me back for an answer.

Well my reason for leaving was, I realized following my football club was more important to me than attending the Kingdm Hall...crazy as it seems I felt Watfords slim chances of avoiding relegation were better odds than Armageddon coming :-)

tiki " Gyms have showers...." That comment reminded me of the Seinfelt episode where George Costanza ( Can't stand ya) peed in the shower. :-)

We were fooled by the. " Jehover" of the W.T.
by The Rebel ini think that's a fair comment.
but i am not convinced by the " god" outside the w.t so far, and i think that's also a fair comment.
if god exists why does he seem a complete liability to convincing the majority of decent people i know to associate with his one true religios organisation?

Outlaw " is there reason to believe God exists?...no evidence so far.
is there a possibility God exists? There is always a possibility.
.......
And in my opinion that possibility is a long shot, but I have friends who believe in God, they never try to put on a show for me, and they certainly arn't trying to convert me. But God is real to them, and in my opinion they are lucky to have something that's " real" to them.
As for those posters on this thread that have expressed so eloquently why they still have a faith in God, no sarcastic comments form me, as I havnt been preached to or called wicked for not sharing that faith. My guess is somethings people believe which can't be proved, and maybe that's a crutch, a fragile hope but often its something inside a person which has nothing to do with religious training.

rebelfighter, thanks for the post. In my opinion who am I to argue a personal relationship. You don't have an organisation a Cathederal, or a church, but you have your " footprints in the sand" . Those footprints in the sand are light enough for me to respect. But I do think if we put an organisation/ church in front of those footprints, then those footprints should be challenged.
Thanks for a good answer as to why I should believe in God outside the W.T. In my eyes I respect that.
